It was golf day!
Jim and I, have gone to the Bridgestone Invitational in Akron together, every year since we've been dating. We haven't missed one yet!
We set off for Akron around 7:30am. Nana came over to sit, while she waited for Reagan to get up. When she woke up, she was going to take her to her house and they would have a play day.
We got to Akron, parked, and took the bus over to the course. It was a picture perfect day! Low 70's, breezy and crystal clear, blue skies! Awesome!
We went over to number one tee, watched the first couple groups tee off, while we waited for Sergio. I love Sergio Garcia! Jim is a good husband and is always willing to follow him for a bit every year.
He finally teed off around 9:30, so we went off into the course. We followed him for a few holes, then hopped over to follow Tommy Gainey for a bit.
Gainey is a fascinating little golfer. We didn't know much about him, until we stumbled upon him at a PGA event last November in Disney. He seemed pretty vocal and fun in Florida, so we wanted to follow him a bit. He was fun to watch! He had a couple funny exchanges with his caddy about whether to hit a ball over or under a tree. He also, told his playing partner to, "talk to his ball." What a hoot!
After quite a few holes with him, we hopped back over to Sergio, just in time to watch a typical Sergio breakdown. He pushed the ball right, and it ended up behind some trees. He had no clear shot to the green, so he just smacked it. It only went about 100 yards, ending up just short of the sand trap, on the right of the green. He walked up to it and just smacked it again. It sailed over the trap to the back of the green on the fringe. He walked up and just putted it, without even concentrating. It was something else! He did end up laughing a bit with his caddy and playing partner, David Lynn, on the next hole.
We followed him to 17, then parted ways.
We went back over to the start of the course and caught up with Phil Mickelson. Phil is my second favorite golfer. Who doesn't love Phil, really!? He seemed to still be in a great mood following his British Open win. He pretty much got cheers for everything he did, even just walking. People were pumped for him!
We finally made it over to watch Tiger on a par 3. He had an amazing following, which made it pretty hard to even see him. He had a pretty solid lead in the tournament, so everyone was gathering to watch him win.
He did end up pulling it off, which made it his EIGHTH win at Akron. WOW!
We headed home around 4:30 and got a Wedgewood Pizza for dinner.
While we were watching the golfers, Reagan and Brinkley had their own fun with Nana and Papa. They all went for a walk on the three mile trail in the morning. Then in the afternoon, they went out to the experimental farm to the Reptiles and Raptors exhibit. Reagan got to see owls, lizards and snakes. She wasn't afraid at all, either! She's a brave little girl! After the farm, they finished with some Menchies, her new favorite!
When I put Reagan to bed tonight, we realized that Mr. Fuzzy and Puppy were missing. Here, she left them at Nana and Papa's. I asked her if they could spend the night over there, and if she could sleep without them. She went from zero to bawling. She was screaming at the top of her lungs, "I can't sleep without them! I NEED them!" After a quick phone call to Nana, they were on their way. She was over in less than 10 minutes to deliver them to her bed. Reagan was sound asleep, not five minutes later. Crisis averted! LOL!
Everyone ended up having a fun day!
The photo of the day is us at the golf tournament...
Next, is Reagan and Papa enjoying the Reptiles and Raptors.....
