Reagan and I enjoyed a program at the Ford Nature Center this morning.
It was called Tales for Tots: April Showers Bring May Flowers. It's just for little ones ages 2-3 and it was adorable!
We got upstairs and all the little ones gathered around tables on the ground. They were set up with crayons, stampers and spring scene coloring pages. The kids went to town while waiting for everyone to arrive. The room itself was decorated with raindrops, flowers, and bugs. It was too cute.
Once everyone was settled, the kids were read a book titled, Plant a Rainbow. It was a book all about planting bulbs, seeds, how they grow and burst into colors. Then, we sang a little song about April showers and flowers to the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot." The kids loved it!
Next, it was craft time. All the kids were given a small, plastic pot and each table got a bucket of dirt. The kids each got to scoop the dirt into their pot then choose some seeds to plant. Reagan and I chose Marigolds, because they look like the sun...LOL! After the seeds were safe in the dirt and watered, they got to paint the sides of the pots. Reagan was a pro at painting her pot! She did great!
While the pots were drying, we all headed outside to the All People's Trail for a wildflower walk. Miss Julie, the teacher, was sad that a lot of the wildflowers weren't quite in bloom yet, so she had hung some large pictures of flowers around the trail. As we searched for the next flower, the kids were asked to pretend they were a different animal. They pretended to be, bees, deer, squirrels, bunnies, frogs, and butterflies. They LOVED it! Reagan was the best at being a deer. She looked so darn adorable with those tiny hands as antlers walking with all the other kids. She's getting too grown up.
We had such a nice morning together! I'm already looking forward to the next one!
The photo of the day is Reagan planting her seeds....
