Castaway Cay - 21/365

Castaway Cay today! WOW! What an absolutely AMAZING little place this is!
We docked early this morning and we were shocked by just how small it is. The entire island is only three miles by two miles. It is TINY, but BIG on beauty! We couldn't wait to get off and explore!
Rachel, Laura and I were actually doing a little "excursion" this morning. RunDisney has a race on the island every time a ship docks. It's called the Castaway Cay 5k! It runs out along the old air strip, around the bike path and back. We were a little nervous, since it was so hot, but excited, too! We met the group in the Evolution Lounge and were on our way. After a mile long warm up walk to the starting line, we were off and running! It was so fun doing this run because we got to see parts of the island others wouldn't have seen! We enjoyed it!
After our big run, we all hit the beach! Our non-running crew, met us on the island and reserved us some chairs to just enjoy the heat and sun! It was 75 and crystal clear blue skies, but a little windy. We had the best afternoon just lounging, having fruity drinks and chit chatting! The kids loved digging in the sand and looking for shells. Ron and Sharon bought a ton of beach toys, so they had lots to play with! All of a sudden, Reagan decided it was huggy time. She just got up and climbed right on up on Laura's lap. She gave her the biggest hug, got down, and moved on to Ron. She eventually went all the way around our circle. It was precious!
The lunch on the island was included with the cruise price and was excellent! They had BBQ ribs, chicken, corn on the cob, burgers and tons of other stuff!
After lunch, we hit a character dance party, then went back to lounging! It was perfect!
The island is really is beyond amazing we didn't want to leave! The water couldn't be more blue and the sand was white as snow. Gorgeous!
Unfortunately, it was time to get back on the ship and cleaned up for dinner. Tonight was pirate night. Aaarrrgh! We all got dressed up in our pirate garb and hit Animators Palate. We were excited to get this restaurant two times on our rotation. Everything was all decked out in pirate theme, with a pirate menu. It was too cool!
The main pirate party had to be moved inside, due to a little bit of rain this evening. The captain said he tried his best to get around it, but couldn't do it in time. The party itself was cool, but pretty crowded, since it had to be in the lobby. We decided to just walk around and check out some characters in their pirate garb. While Jim waited in line for Chip and Dale, Reagan, Nana, Papa and I, held a 5k out on the deck. Reagan would start us and just take off, so we would chase her. She had to just run back and forth for a good 10 minutes! It was hilarious!
Finally, the captain got us out of the rain, so they were able to do the fireworks at sea. It was a pretty awesome show, for doing fireworks from a ship. We really enjoyed them!
After that, we decided to call it a night! What a fun day!
The photo of the day is Rachel, Laura and I after our Castaway Cay 5k!
Next, Jim, Reagan and I with the ship on the beach!
Finally, Parker and Reagan on Pirate Night.
